04/17/2010 - Washington, D.C. (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Chicago Fire earned a 2-0 victory over struggling D.C. United at RFK Stadium in Major League Soccer action on Saturday night.
Marco Pappa and Brian McBride scored for Chicago, both in the final 10 minutes.
The win is the first of the season for Chicago, which is expected to be a playoff contender this season. United, on the other hand, struggled again, falling to 0-4 while being outscored 11-2 this season.
Pappa scored the game's first goal 10 minutes from time when Fire forward Patrick Nyarko played a ball into the penalty are from near the byline. The ball deflected off McBride in the center of the area before being collected by Pappa, who ripped his second goal of the season past goalkeeper Troy Perkins.
The Fire added the insurance goal in the 89th minute when Chicago goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra played a free kick 60 yards into the United area. McBride got his head on the ball to skip it past Perkins for his second goal of the season as well.
United will aim for its first result of 2010 when it hosts Red Bull New York on may 1 in its next MLS fixture, while Chicago (1-2-1) hosts Houston next Saturday at Toyota Park.
